What is throat cancer?

by | Cancer Care, Ear Nose and Throat Health, Videos

Throat cancer’s a generic term that applies to cancers of usually the mouth, the back of the nose, the top of the throat, and even right down into the voice box.

And those cancers all fall into a group that we in the medical profession would call head and neck cancers. The reason we group them together is that they typically have similar causes, and their treatment approach is generally similar.

It is a complex area that requires quite a large team of people: surgeons, radiation doctors, medical oncologists, physiotherapists, dieticians, speech therapists, to really come up with the ideal treatment and the best way of getting rid of those cancers.
