What is Chronic prostatitis?
Chronic prostatitis, the diagnostic tests are the same, because it’s a diagnosis essentially of exclusion. In other words, we’re excluding the infective causes, and so there are actually few tests to do, apart from urine. We may, for example, do a urinary tract ultrasound, which is really just to check that there is normal anatomy. Perhaps in more severe cases, we might also do a CT scan of the pelvis, to rule out any other pathology. Again, it’s not confirming the diagnosis of chronic prostatitis, but rather, ruling out other diagnoses.
