Risks from COVID-19 affects every part of the body. And I can’t emphasise too much how toxic a disease COVID-19 is.

The other risks from Covid-19, are that it affects nerves, blood vessels, lungs and the bowel. Risk from Covid-19 affects every system in the body. And I don’t think that any particular variant at the moment is more toxic to the brain than any other. It’s just that any of the variants of COVID-19, or the SARS-CoV-2 virus, can affect the brain.

Talking about risks from COVID-19 and it’s variants, we are all worried about the clots from the Astra vaccine. But the risk of blood clots from that vaccine is very low. It is comparable to one or two people in a full capacity Melbourne cricket ground getting a clot, if they’ve all had the vaccine. The chances of dying from those clots is even lower, comparable to one person in about 20 full capacity MCGs. So it is very rare.

In terms of risks of COVID-19 causing clots and arterial disease, it is a large proportion of people who actually get the disease. It’s yet another reason to be immunised.
