Cystic Fibrosis is serious. However with regular medication, exercise and lifestyle changes you should be able to maintain a good quality of life.

Cystic Fibrosis is a serious genetic disorder. Living with cystic fibrosis means it affects many parts of the body, but mainly the lungs and gut. Mucus producing cells can’t maintain normal salt levels, and think mucus builds up, and clogs the lungs. This could lead to lethargy, coughing and wheezing, digestive problems, lung infections, and ultimately shortened life expectancy.

It looks like you’ve got another chest infection. I’ll put you on some antibiotics for that. Make sure you keep up with your breathing exercises too. It will help ease with living with cystic fibrosis. That will help remove the mucus, and improve your breathing. Enzyme supplements should help with the digestion too.

Regular exercise is also important, as it helps loosen the mucus in your airways. Healthy lifestyle choices such as a balanced diet, and plenty of fluids can also help maintain your quality of life and lessen the burden go living with cystic fibrosis.
