How to reduce the risk of throat cancer – Dr Michael Boyer

Quit smoking and reduce drinking

Mouth and throat cancers typically are associated with smoking and alcohol consumption. And decreasing alcohol consumption and not smoking or stopping smoking, if you already do, are the best ways to prevent those cancers.

In addition, as we have found the increasing rate of human papilloma virus-associated throat cancers, we know that vaccination is likely to prevent those. And so being vaccinated, if you are the right age for vaccination, is an important part of that, as well.
