Multiple sclerosis is an autoimmune disease, which attacks the lining, if you like, the insulation between nerves, that cover nerves. And therefore you get short-circuiting throughout the nervous system. And it tends to be a bit random whereabouts in the nervous system it occurs. So that the thing about multiple sclerosis is, it causes all sorts of curious problems. It can cause irritation of the nerve in the eye, so you can get eye effects, you can get double vision. You can get weakness and tingling in arms and legs, which comes and goes. It is a painful condition, which is actually made worse when you lean forward, a curious symptom there too.

So there are some typical things about multiple sclerosis, but there are some odd things too. So if somebody is getting odd neurological symptoms, here, there, they come and they go, particularly with the eyes, particularly if they’re getting pain around the back, in the neck, the worst made going forward, then you do need to get checked up in case you’ve got it.
