Preserving Fertility and Cancer – Dr. Jenny Cook

Cancer in immediately post-pubescent girls can happen. Probably the most common we would see there would be lymphoma.

And it’s really a matter of the medical oncologist actually contacting us, alerting us to the fact that this woman’s there and we would do absolutely everything that we can to facilitate that to have it happen as quickly as possible. And the two situations that I can think back to recently would be a woman who came in with breast cancer and I made that egg freezing up in a very short period of time. And the other one was a young woman who had bowel cancer and we actually did embryo freezing.

The technology for preserving fertility is absolutely vital and critical for those women and it just can’t be underestimated.

Dr. Jenny Cook is a Fertility Specialist who works at the Monash IVF clinic. She has published widely in the area of Gynaecological Laparoscopy and has presented at many national and international meetings. She is recognised for her experience in laparoscopic gynaecological procedures.
