Menopause symptoms high on NCWA agenda

9 April 2001

For women seeking help in controlling menopausal symptoms, such as hot flushes and mood swings, a series of special seminars may provide the answers.

The National Council of Women of Australia (NCWA) will host a series of 'Women’s Biz!' luncheon seminars for members who are either entering or going through the menopause. The seminars will be held in major cities across Australia from April to June 2001.

Former Miss World and spokesperson on health, beauty and fitness, Belinda Green, will discuss her personal experience with the menopause and how she has taken control of her symptoms through a combination of treatment, dietary and lifestyle changes. A local menopause expert will discuss the menopause, its associated symptoms and effective management and treatment options.

NCWA National President Judith Parker said: ‘The luncheon seminars are designed to meet 2 of our 3 national priorities for this year: "women in health" and "connecting rural, remote and urban women".'

'The seminars will empower our members to make well-informed decisions when it comes to managing the menopause, by equipping them with the facts, not rumour or misinformation,' she added.
