Ten habits for healthy living

People who achieve and enjoy life the most share 10 simple habits, according to Mark Stafford, Associate Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in the USA.

Professor Stafford says the secret to healthy living is no secret.

‘Based on 20 years of caring for patients, I’ve observed that people who achieve and enjoy life the most share 10 simple habits:

  • eat a balanced diet;
  • exercise regularly;
  • maintain a healthy body weight;
  • sleep at least 7 hours a night;
  • do things in moderation;
  • avoid extremes;
  • don’t take life too seriously;
  • have at least one close, personal friend;
  • have a healthy loving relationship with a higher power;
  • resolve conflicts quickly; and
  • live in the moment, celebrating life.’
