Schizophrenia Awareness Week aims to highlight issues that affect people living with schizophrenia and mental illness in general.

In 2012, the focus is on the physical health of people affected by mental illness, and the fact that there is an up to 25 year difference in the life expectancy of people with mental illness when compared to the general public.
