Bowel Cancer Awareness Week is an annual event to raise public awareness of a disease that claims the lives of 80 Australians every week. The message is positive - saving lives through early detection - as bowel cancer is one of the most curable types of cancer if found early. People at higher risk of developing the disease and those experiencing symptoms are encouraged to consult their doctor.
A highlight is Red Apple Day, when Australians are encouraged to help raise funds for vital research and community awareness campaigns through the purchase of an apple pin.
