Fact sheet for safe use of paracetamol

4 July 2003

A fact sheet for consumers about the safe use of paracetamol is available on the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) website (www.tga.gov.au).

Paracetamol is the active ingredient of many over-the-counter products that are used to relieve pain and fever, such as Panadol, Tylenol and Herron Paracetamol.

The sheet was released in the wake of the TGA's 'Review of Non-prescription Analgesics — An Update', which was initiated due to concerns about paracetamol toxicity.
