A free guide entitled Localised prostate cancer: a guide for men and their families has been prepared by the Australian Prostate Cancer Collaboration for the Australian Cancer Network.
The book is designed to help any man (or his family) affected by prostate cancer. It focusses on localised prostate cancer, that is prostate cancer that has not spread beyond the prostate gland.
The content is based upon Evidence-based recommendations for the management of localised prostate cancer developed by the Australian Cancer Network's Working Party on the Management of Localised Prostate Cancer.
Written in easy to understand language, with useful diagrams and tables, the book also has information on counselling and resources available for support, with addresses, phone numbers and web site details, etc.
Copies of Localised prostate cancer: a guide for men and their families are available from the Cancer Council in your state (telephone: 13 11 20) and The Australian Cancer Network (telephone: 02-9380 9177). It can also be downloaded in pdf from the Lions Australian Prostate Cancer web site at www.prostatehealth.org.au (see link below).
