Is my newborn safe?
If you’ve got a newborn, the evidence is that you don’t need to be worried at all really. So, the question then is, if you’ve got COVID-19 should you be worried about your newborn? Well, you pass a lot of antibodies to newborn babies, there is very little evidence that babies and young people are affected seriously by this at all. There is no evidence at the moment that the virus that causes COVID-19 grows from breast milk. So if the advice is that you would continue breastfeeding just really be obsessive compulsive about hygiene, washing your hands. If you’ve got COVID-19 wearing a mask and so that you are not passing it on. But under normal circumstances you would just treat your baby as normal and breast feeding is a really good thing to do because you are boosting your baby’s immunity.
